New title!

Dec. 3, 2010 Hogan just added a new Rally title to his name: he is now AKC/UKC CH Marshview Hesumkindawonderful RA CGC. He was a star at the Rally trial today taking 2nd place in Rally Advanced A. Owner/handler Rachel was so proud of him. Go Hogan - 2 titles in less than 3 weeks!

UKC

November 2010 Two Marshview owners decided to try their hand at UKC conformation. Unlike AKC, there are fewer area shows, but when they are held, there can be 4 shows in 2 days. Which is how it happened that we now have 2 new UKC champions (already AKC champs)! 16 month old Maliboo went in with 1st-time owner/handler Julie and took Winner's Bitch all 4 shows. Rachel, who previously won AKC points with 3 year old Hogan, took Winner's Dog/Best of Winners the first 3 shows (Maliboo was BOW and new CH in the last show), and Best of Breed in 2 out of 3 of those, including a Group 4 placement! That earned him a CH, and moved him up into the Champion class for the last show where he went Best of Breed again over other champions! Kudos to these owners for trying a new way to work/have fun with their dogs.

Ft. Wayne, IN

Gabbie is a New Champion! Gabbie "Marshview's Keep 'Em All Talkin'" was entered for 2 of 5 days in Ft. Wayne, where there were enough dogs entered for majors all 5 days! On 11/3/10, her first day there, she was Winners Bitch for 4 points, giving her the 2nd "major win" she needed to earn her championship. Now maybe she can grow that lion clip out before the winter cold hits:)

Also, Sadie "Marshview's No Holding Sadie Back" could not be held back in Springfield, IL last week where she scored HER first major, from the 12-18 mo. class. Go Sadie! We hope to see more from her later in the month.

Belarus

August 2010 Lex (Martha x Walker 2008) competed in an international show in Belarus. His Best of Breed win on Saturday - after a 12 hour bus ride to get to the show - earned him a Belarus championship. Then he went on to win the Group#2 competition! Lex won BOB again on Sunday. He now has 2 certificates from foreign countries plus his home country,Finland, well on his way to an "international champion" title.

Lake Elmo, MN

August 30, 2010 It just keeps getting better and better! Today at the Northstar Working Group show, Maliboo was awarded Winner's bitch for the second time out of this 4 show cluster. I had already returned home, but heard from spectators that it was a very deserving win. With this third major, she is now CH Marshview Out Ridin' The Waves. Maliboo was expertly groomed by her owner Julie, a first-time PWD owner!

Water trial

August 29, 2010 What a great weekend at the Chicago water trial. "Relay" (Marshview's Eva Line to Shore) passed her Courier Water Dog (CWD) test on Saturday - with a repeat performance on Sunday! Relay and owner Midge have been working really hard at this advanced level. They were SO close last year, but didn't quite make it. Big congratulations to a fabulous team!

Water Trial

August 28, 2010 Marshview Kennels is proud to announce a new water title!! Trio (CH Marshview Harmony) and owner Barb tried out for Trio's first water title in Sterling Lake, Illinois. The Portuguese Water Dog Club of Greater Chicago hosted the trial on a beautiful day and the duo was successful - Trio earned her Apprentice Water Dog title, one of the more technically difficult ones to achieve. Barb & Trio have been honing their water skills and teamwork during much of this very warm summer. Hearty congratulations to the new working team - all your hard work paid off!

Lake Elmo, MN

August 27, 2010 was a wonderful day for the Twin Cities Regional Specialty in Lake Elmo, MN. The site was great, the weather perfect, the hosts very gracious, and the competition stiff. Thirteen month-old Maliboo showed beautifully for breeder-judge Marilyn Rimmer who awarded her Winner's Bitch over a field of 21 girls! This is Maliboo's 2nd 5-point major at a Regional Specialty, leaving her needing only 3 more points to finish.

Waukesha, WI

July 31, 2010 Marshview had high hopes for the show in Waukesha this weekend and Cuervo came through. He took Best of Breed Saturday and Select Dog on Sunday in an impressive field of Specials. He made the cut in the Working Group against some really BIG dogs! Maliboo also took Reserve Winners on Saturday. Gabbie just needed a major to finish, but unfortunately on Saturday there were not enough dogs entered and Sunday's major broke, so she sat out both days without the chance to show off her new lion clip :-(

June 18, 2010
Friday was the PWD Club of Greater Chicago's supported show in Grayslake, IL. Maliboo, Sadie and Cuervo there. Sadie showed well and Cuervo earned a Grand Champion Select ribbon. Maliboo is still competing in the puppy class. She won the Best in Sweepstakes from the 9-12 mo. class. She went on to be named Best Puppy in the class competition, and won the Puppy Working Group for the second time! On Sunday, she took Reserve Winner's Bitch.

Agility, Rally

June 13, 2010
Martha and I had a busy weekend of performance. Helen was supposed to come along, but came in season the day before trials :-(
Friday we had agility in Manitowoc, and Martha got her 2nd leg in Excellent Standard, nailing every contact and finishing in first! We missed the weaves on her Jumpers run, but it was really my fault.
Saturday we did Rally in Ixonia, where she earned the 3rd leg for her Rally Excellent title! She could have improved on the Figure 8, but it was my point deductions that cost her the 2nd place ribbon.
Today it was back to agility. The weather was great and the courses challenging. Martha hit every contact, every tight turn and every jump - and blew me off on the weavepoles on both runs. Guess I know what we'll be working on next!
All in all, lots of good stuff in the runs, tons of fun and PWD company at the trial. Can't wait 'til next time!

Canadian CH

June 4, 2010
Marshview Kennels has just gone international. In the same week we found out we have a European champion, we were just informed we have a Canadian champion also! Cuervo returned to Canada this weekend and today was awarded Best of Breed over Specials. He went on to compete in the Group and was given a Group 4 placement. With the points earned today, he has achieved a Canadian championship!

Finland

May 2010
Marshview Kennels has its first European Champion! Last week Lex (Martha x Walker 2008) earned his Finnish championship. Yesterday Lex - Marshview Lucky Star of Finland - competed in the champion class for the first time and was awarded Best of Breed. At the end of the day was the Group competition where the best-of-breed dogs (about ten different breeds in his group) compete. Lex took second in Group! While not a big dog, Lex has a great show attitude and moves like a dream. Now his summer activities will include agility, swimming - and maybe a haircut:)

Kalamzaoo, MI

May 28, 2010 Cuervo "CH Marshview's Kan't Remember Last Nite" RN, WWD went Best of Breed today in beautiful Michigan weather over an impressive field of PWDs, including 4 male Specials. Good luck with the rest of the holiday weekend!

Delta Dog

May 25, 2010
Congratulations to 8 year old Nellie - CH Marshview's Our Belle Nell - our first Delta Partners Therapy Dog! The Pet Partners Program is a program of Delta Society that enables pet owner volunteers to provide services to people in their own communities while spending quality time with their pets. Nellie and owner Jan underwent an evaluation to determine how well the handler interprets and manages the dog's behavior, and how well the dog responds to the handler.
Animals that visit people in hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities need to be healthy, clean, and well mannered so they pose little risk to patients. Therapy Dogs must meet specific criteria for health, grooming and behavior. Dog and owner teams can be used to help patients meet specific goals, or to meet and greet people just to brighten their day.
Good job, Nellie! Your calm demeanor and sweet nature will be an asset everywhere you go! Thanks Jan for believing in your girl (and yourself!) and going through the evaluation process.

Jefferson, WI

May 9, 2010
Gabbie and Sadie showed in Jefferson this weekend. Both won their classes on Saturday (with 7 in the Open Bitch class!)and Sunday. With both girls in the line-up for Winner's Bitch, we had high hopes for a major win that day. Alas, it was not meant to be. Gabbie won on Sunday (happy Mother's Day to me!), but the major broke. She only needs a major to finish. Sadie has her first point already, and is showing well in the 12-18 mo class.

Canada

April 23-25, 2010
Cuervo traveled to Canada to begin a quest for a Canadian championship - the first Marshview dog to attempt this. In his first weekend there he went BOW (Best of Winners) and BOS (Best of Opposite Sex)all 3 days for a total of 5 points. He's halfway there!

Rally

April 25, 2010

Hogan and Rachel competed for 2 days in Fond du Lac. Hogan completed the 3rd leg of Rally Novice on Saturday with a 4th place finish to earn his RN title. On Sunday, he qualified in Rally Advanced, performing all the exercises off-leash for the first time.

At the same trial, Martha and I competed in Rally Excellent. We had not trained for this level, or seen it done before. She qualified both days! Most of the points we lost were for my mis-handling, not Martha's performance. Maybe by the 3rd leg I will figure out how to do the exercises correctly!

IKC 2010

2/27/10 The PWD Club of Chicago held its first Regional Specialty at the International Kennel Club Show in Chicago and 7 month old Maliboo "Marshview Out Ridin' The Waves" went Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a 5 point major in her second weekend out! The IKC offered a Best In Show Puppy competition, so Maliboo went on to compete in the Puppy Working Group where she took a Group First. This put her as one of 7 puppies competing for Best In Show! After a long day in the ring, Maliboo was still "working" the crowd right until the end.

IKC 2010

2/28/10 We brought 2 brown puppies to Chicago in February: 9 month old Sadie-a brown curly (Henry and Casey) and 7 month old Maliboo-a brown wavy (Henry and Ruthie). Through 4 days of showing plus a Sweepstakes event, both girls showed well. Sadie placed in the top 2 of her class under every judge, and Maliboo won her class under 4 of the judges. Both girls are going to grow up a little bit before hitting the show road again, but we expect great things!
