Rally
October 30, 2011 NEW TITLE! Maliboo qualified in both her Rally Novice runs this weekend to complete her RN title! That's her 5th title this year!
At the same trial, Penny - Marshview Penny For Your Thoughts - qaulified in both her runs, even earning a 3rd place finish on Saturday. Not bad for her first time in this venue.
Helen and Cuervo both competed at the Rally Advanced level - offleash. They finished 1 & 2, with Cuervo beating out his mom both days for the blue ribbon:) What a weekend!

Agility
October 23, 2011 Fabulous day at the Oshkosh agility trial. Cuervo Q'd in both Jumpers and Standard - perfect scores, and 1st place finishes! The Standard run gave him his Novice title. Sweeter yet was that mom Helen qualified in her Standard run - her first Q in Open Standard - with a perfect score and a first place finish! This after a 2-year hiatus from agility. What a fun day with my fun dogs!

Conformation! Agility! Therapy!
Oct. 22, 2011 What a day! Got a phone call that Sadie "Marshview's No Holding Sadie Back" just went Winner's Bitch in Springfield for the last single points she needed for her CH! On the home front, Cuervo got a 1st place ribbon with a score of 100 for his first leg in Novice Jumpers With Weaves. Not to be outdone, Maliboo qualified for her CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title this morning. This comes within weeks of her earning her Grand Championship title. What a fun, versatile breed!

Water trial
Sept. 10, 2011 Noblesville, IN: Since Maliboo came SO close to passing her Apprentice test in Chicago, we decided to give it 1 more try. The Overboard Club puts on a great water trial, and the weather cooperated. Since Julie was going with 'Boo, I took Penny along to attempt Junior.
Maliboo's run on Saturday was beautiful, but as often happens at the Apprentice level, she did not pass due to technical issues. This level is all about control and precision for both the dog and handler (retrieving to hand, crossing the 3' line at the water's edge, staying with the handler, etc.).
Exercises are a little more forgiving at the Junior level, but 19 mo old Penny was pretty green. She just came to stay with us at the end of June, and would not swim initially. She grew to love the water, just not SWIMMING! Retrieving was also somewhat of a foreign concept. Still, the day was warm and the water calm. Penny got the zoomies during our warm-up, then left the test area again during the retrieve (I had to fetch the dummy myself :-). Still, we had paid our entry, so we continued. She was flawless - and enthusiastic - through the walk to the boat, the ride on the boat, the 60' recall to the boat from land, and she finished with a joyful swim to the 60' marker. Too bad we couldn't try the retrieve at the end!
Day 2 brought more sun and warmer temps. By afternoon, distractions on the lake were piling up: jetskis, kids tubing, low-flying planes, speedboats with skiers, and accompanying boat wakes. Julie remained calm and steered Maliboo through each exercise - and was the only successful Apprentice Water Dog of the day! Congratulations to both on a job well done!

Lake Elmo Regional Specialty
August 26, 2011 It was a beautiful day in Lake Elmo, MN today for the Twin Cities Regional Specialty. Our host Club was very gracious as always. Being a Specialty, there was a Sweepstakes event. Ava and Velma (on left) had to compete head to head, and Velma ended up winning 12-18 mos., and with Best of Opposite! In the regular classes, Cuervo and Maliboo were chosen as Select Dog and Bitch. This should be the last of 3 majors needed toward 'Boo's Grand Champion title. Cuervo came home with me today, but everyone else is sticking around for the rest of the weekend. Hopefully the good weather and ribbons continue!

Water trial
August 13, 2011 Fabulous weather for the Jr. and Apprentice dogs this morning at the Chicago Club water trial in Sterling Lake, IL. Julie and Maliboo decided to go all out and enter both classes. Boo was 1st on the line this morning and passed Junior with flying colors. Long hours later, she was the last Apprentice dog and came soooo close - over time on the float line. They should be ready next time! Amanda and Trevi, a Helen son, were in Junior at their first ever PWD event. In true PWD fashion, Trevi got the zoomies once too often - didn't pass, but had a REALLY good time:)
Meanwhile, Ava was competing at a show in Cudahy where she went Winner's Bitch. She'll be in Lake Elmo, MN later this month, looking for a 2nd major.

June 17 & 19, 2011
Had an awesome weekend in Grayslake! On Friday, Sawyer was Reserve Winners Dog (to a 4 pt major), Sadie won the Open Bitch class, but 10 mo old Ava trumped all by going Winner's Bitch, Best of Winners (for 4 pts - her first!) and Best Puppy.
Sunday got better! Today was our supported entry. Ava came back to win Best of Opposite Sex in Sweeps. In the classes, Velma won the very competitive 9-12 mo class and went Reserve to Sadie's Winners Bitch win! Maliboo took Best of Opposite out of 23 dogs including 8 specials. But, dearest to my heart, Helen won the 7-9 year old Veteran class, besting 2 other lovely "old ladies", then went head to head with the winner of the 9 yrs and older class and won Best Veteran in Sweeps! She showed great and seemed to get more into it with every go-round. That's my feisty girl!

Jefferson County, Part 2
What a weekend! Velma was again picked as Reserve Winners Bitch, but today Sawyer - Marshview's River of the Gods - went Winners Dog! The major broke, but he was happy to go home with his 1st 2 points. Cuervo was not entered today, but Best of Breed went to Maliboo - Marshview's Out Ridin' The Waves. 3 days, 3 Best of Breed wins, 3 different Marshview dogs! Amazing! Happy, happy Mother's Day to me:)

Jefferson County
May 7, 2011 Marshview was well represented in Jefferson this weekend. Velma took Reserve Winner's Bitch from the 9-12 mo class on Friday. Her sire,Cuervo, won the Breed. Then two Marshview puppies, Sawyer and Velma, went head to head for Best Puppy. While Cuervo did not place in the Working Group, daughter Velma went on to a Group 2 in the Puppy Working Group!
Today there were majors in both dogs and bitches. Sawyer won his class again - owner handled by Barb - and Velma went Winners Bitch. Then our spunky little girl went on to take Best of Breed - over 3 Specials for 4 points, scoring a major for her first career points! Cuervo and Maliboo were chosen as the Select Dog and Select Bitch - what an exciting weekend!

April 23, 2011 The Fond du Lac show is the closest show site to our house, so we had a number of dogs there. On Saturday, Ava and Velma competed in the same 6-12 month class and went 1 and 2 out of 4 puppies. Ava ended up going Reserve Winners Bitch, with just one bitch shy of a major, and Cuervo took the breed.

IKC 2011 - Chicago
February 2011 We had a good time in Chicago for 4 days of shows! Velma - our Cuervo daughter - made her ring debut this weekend and won the 6-9 month class on the day of the Regional Specialty! Two other 6-9 puppies also got their first taste of competition. A few of our Specials strutted their stuff too. Cuervo made the cut on both Saturday and Sunday in a large field of Champions. A good time was had by all!

January 30, 2011
What an awesome weekend! Martha needed just one more leg for her AX title (Excellent Agility), but that had proved to be elusive. On Friday, we got shut out altogether. Saturday she ran a flawless Jumpers run, but flew off the A-frame in Standard. Sunday was our day: she was perfect in Jumpers, then aced the Standard! Not only a new title, but a first-place finish over 7 Excellent A runners, and a Double Q!! I couldn't be more proud of her.
Then in the Novice division, Cuervo qualified in both of his Standard runs (!!), but forgot how to do weave poles by the time we ran Jumpers. He's a lot of fun to run (and watch, by the comments I got from the audience). He's fast and a big jumper - and he's in full show coat now, so lots of hair flying. Can't wait to run that boy again!
