Eukanuba 2012

12/16/12  ORLANDO  There were 3 Marshview dogs at the Eukanuba National Championship this year.  For the first time, they allowed class dogs (not just champions), so we sent our 11 month old puppy, Joey.  He was Best of Winners on Thursday, and Reserve Winners Dog on Sunday (sat out in between).

His mother Maliboo showed beautifully, both Friday and Sunday. But Sawyer, GCH Marshview's River of the Gods, was Select Dog that day - beating out 4 class dogs and 13 fabulous champions! Quite a win for our 2 year old boy!

In between shows, 'Boo and Joey helped out at the Meet the Breeds booth.

Agility

Oshkosh 10/20/12  Helen has a new title!  We have been running Excellent Standard for awhile, but were languishing in Open Jumpers.  Our last trial had us slogging through rain and mud in Fond du Lac to no avail.  Cuervo was up first today and took down a bar.  When Helen's turn came, I gave her a better angle to that bar and she kept it up.  Still took her 2 attempts at the weave poles, but she did them! 2nd Place ribbon and her Open Jumper With Weaves title!  At the same trial, Barb Stanek and Trio got their Novice Standard title.  Good day for the girls!

Water

September 9-10 Noblesville, IN  Julie and Maliboo really clicked at this trial.  In this attempt at the Working Water Dog title, Maliboo lost her hesitation for jumping in the water to retrieve articles and they passed easily.  Julie was so confident that they repeated on Sunday, and passed again.  Yeah, Maliboo, who lived up to her name:  GrCH Marshview Out Ridin' The Waves RN WWD CGC. This team is going for a 3-peat at the National Specialty in Lake Geneva later this month.

8-24-12 Regional Specialty-Lake Elmo, MN. OK, folks, I am a little behind due to a wonderful - but lengthy - vacation. It is time to update news on our dogs! The PWD Club of the Twin Cities were great hosts, as always, and a good time was had by all.

Helen
Ruthie

We brought a couple of our Veteran girls for the Sweepstakes event and they did not disappoint. There were 6 entries in the 7-9 year class; Helen came in 2nd, and Ruthie (who has not set foot in a show ring in 5 years) took 4th. So proud of our senior girls!

Blake
Joey-Winners Dog
We had a couple of newbies along too:  6-9 month Joey and Blake.  Blake won the Am Bred class in his ring debut.  Joey went Best of Opposite in the Sweepstakes, then captured the 5 point major in Dogs! He showed like a pro, and now has 9 points going into the National Specialty next month.

Marshview also had 3 entries in the Best of Breed class: Maliboo, Cuervo and Sawyer. Gotta include photos of our seasoned winners Mailboo and Cuervo here, but it was Sawyer - who just turned 2 - who came away with the Award of Merit with his owner-handler.

Cuervo
Maliboo
It was a fabulous show on a beautiful day. I couldn't be there, so thanks to Julie for the photos, and the play-by-play while I was in the airport. Great group of Marshview dogs and owners - thank you to all of you!

Water

August 11, 2012  We took a mother-son team to the water trial in Sterling Lake, IL today: Maliboo and 6 month old Joey.  Joey had been up in Wisconsin for his conformation debut and, anticipating the National Specialty being held here September, we decided to try some water training. With just a month before the Chicago Club's trial, Julie started working with Joey, and brought him along to practice with Maliboo. Joey proved a fast learner, and remarkably focused for such a young dog.  He and Julie performed each exercise this morning with calm confidence (and no zoomies!) and he earned Junior Water Dog on his first attempt.  Maliboo decided to let her kid have the spotlight today, completing all the Working Water Dog exercises but, taking her sweet time doing it and going over the allowed amount. Still 6 weeks until the Specialty; we'll see what this pair can do!

Conformation

July 2012 It is always hot in Waukesha, and this year was no different.   We introduced our Maliboo baby, Joey, at just 6 months, and he was on fire!  First day in the ring he nabbed his 1st point as Winners Dog.  2nd day, he snagged another 2 points as Best of Winners!  That day his mom Maliboo was Select Bitch and Cuervo was Select Dog (photo: Maliboo on left, Joey on right)  Meanwhile, in the Obedience ring, Trio picked up her title Rally Excellent - in 3 straight days!  What a great day for Marshview dogs!  Monday in Elkhorn Joey picked up his 4th point - not bad for the first weekend out.  No points on Tuesday, so he did not show, but overall an excellent debut for our brown baby.

Agility

7/15/12 Helen has a brand new title: Open Agility!  It was another hot day in Fond du Lac, and she was feeling it.  She sat on the course and had to be coaxed over the first jump, the tire.  She got to the weave poles, gave me a long look, then ambled through them.  She glanced at the wrong end of the tunnel, then chose the right one.  When all was said and done, she scored a perfect 100, did it in exactly course time, and came away with a 1st place ribbon and a OA title.  Love ya, Helen!

Conformation

April 22, 2012 Fond du Lac. What a day for Marshview dogs! Best of Breed - Maliboo (GCH Marshview Out Ridin' The Waves RN CGC AWD) and Best of Opposite Sex - Sawyer (CH Marshview's River of The Gods). Both dogs were owner-handled; Julie handled Maliboo for her very first time in an AKC competition - way to go, Julie!!

Agility +

April 2012 We are jumping back into agility. We hit the nearby Oshkosh trial where Helen picked up a second leg in Open JWW, even scoring a 2nd place ribbon! The following weekend Helen got her Canine Good Citizen title, handled by Julie as I was busy with family. Go Helen! This weekend we braved the frigid weather in Fond du Lac at the first outdoor trial of the year. After our mild spring, we hit the worst day all month! Helen and Cuervo didn't seem to mind - better than too hot, I guess. Both knocked a bar in Open Standard (I think the wind helped a little). Helen got a little excited and also blew a contact, but Cuervo was focused and precise. In Jumpers, Helen had one too many mistakes, but Cuervo came through: perfect 100, 1st place finish, new NAJ title!

Conformation

February 25, 2012 IKC Chicago Regional Specialty. We brought 3 generations to the show this year: Helen as a Veteran, son Cuervo and granddaughter Velma in Best of Breed. In addition, Sawyer - another Helen son - was also competing for Best of Breed.

Helen was on first and showed beautifully. We heard comments that she looked/acted too young to be a Veteran:) She took 2nd in the 7-9 year class to the eventual Best Veteran.

In the Breed, both Sawyer (at 18 mos!) and Cuervo made the first cut out of a field of 14 dog Specials. Cuervo stayed in for the 2nd round of cuts also and received the Award of Merit. Velma had a good time as always.

Exciting show, lovely dogs, lots of fun with all the Chicago Club friends.

First, Ava competed on Thursday and went Winners Bitch for the final point to finish her championship - the 2nd pup from that litter to do so this year. Velma arrived on Friday, coming off of 2 wins in Grayslake. She was Best of Winners Friday for 2 points. Saturday her BOW was a 3 point major (her 4th major!) which completed her championship. She stretched her streak to 5 in a row on Sunday going Best of Breed her first time as a Special! Velma heads to IKC at end of February, having already sent her entry in. After that both girls will be taking it easy until they turn 2 in August! Congratulations to CH Marshview Rat Pack Romance (Helen x Pepin) and CH Marshview Quite a Mystery Girl Velma (Ruthie x Cuervo).

Conformation

January 29, 2012 Grayslake, IL Velma, our Cuervo x Ruthie baby, took back-to-back 3 point majors this weekend in Grayslake. She is not quite 18 months old yet. She was entered all 3 days and improved with each one. She showed in a nice class of 5 Open bitches, happily free-stacking everytime they came to a halt. Today was her 3rd major, so she only needs single points now. She has another show coming up in February, and we're hoping she can keep up the good work.

With majors in both sexes, Sawyer (shown here after his 1st major) went Best of Winners on Saturday to finish his AKC championship.
